The WendyWoo story

It started with a discovery.

I make handmade yoga and Pilates bags in Arundel, West Sussex. But this isn’t a conventional business story.

While sourcing materials for my sewing projects, I came across a collection of beautiful upholstery-grade faux leathers hidden away in a dusty warehouse. The colours were incredible, but the rolls had been discontinued and were destined for landfill.

I couldn’t bear to see them wasted.

From curtains to carry-alls.

At the time, my workshop was full of curtain-making equipment from my previous business. I began experimenting with ways to transform these rescued materials into something useful, practical and beautiful.

After plenty of trial and error, the WendyWoo yoga and Pilates bag was born.

Designed to carry everything you need for class. a mat, water bottle, phone, keys, purse and jumper – all in one beautifully made bag. Instead of juggling everything, you pick up one bag and go.

handmade yoga bags West Sussex by Wendywoo

Handmade in West Sussex. Made to last.

Every WendyWoo bag is made by hand, by me, in my Arundel workshop, in small batches. The faux leather exterior is upholstery grade Kirkby Design Laser, originally specified for luxury commercial interiors and rated to 100,000 Martindale rubs. It’s OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, PFAS free, wipe-clean and built for real life. Each bag is paired with a carefully chosen designer cotton lining from some of my favourite textile designers — Lewis & Irene, Cassandra Connolly, Dashwood Studio, Liberty, Stuart Hillard and Makower.

Because the faux leather was rescued as discontinued stock, there is only a limited amount available in each colour. There will never be mass production. There will never be wholesale. Once a colour has gone, it has gone.

Something truly personal.

For those looking for something unique, I also offer a bespoke service. If there’s a particular cotton fabric you’d love incorporated into your bag, something meaningful, something you’ve chosen yourself, that’s often possible.

All I need is one metre of good-quality cotton fabric, and I’ll do the rest.

Practical. Beautiful. Made to be used.
And created with materials that deserved a second chance.
